Welcome to a quick introduction to the Activities of the Claires Court Parent Teacher Association (The PTA)

The Claires Court PTA was converted from a friendly association into a charity in 1996. With the agreement of the school, we used the model constitution provided by the National Council of Parent Teacher Associations (NCPTA), now known as Parentkind as the core of our constitution, and have been subscribing members to the present day. In addition to their wealth and knowledge, through their Insurance brokers, Marsh, they providing the PTA with the Public Liability we need to cover the many events we run ourselves or manage with the school.

The object of the PTA is to advance the education of the pupils in the School. In furtherance of this objective, the PTA may:

Develop more extended relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the School;

Engage in activities which support the School and advance the education of the pupils attending it;

Provide and assist in the provision of facilities and opportunities for the education of the pupils at the School;

Promote and assist a past pupils’ network.

Below are a range of activities run by the PTA over recent years, used to engage the support of our parents, teachers and children in the school, to reach out to the wider partnership groups with whom we work:

The Summer Fete 2022
Staff v Alumni Cricket 2015
The Good Friday Rugby fixture – Claires Court v Sir William Borlase (2023)

Many of our events, coupled with generous donations of time as well as money, from our children, parents, staff, alumni, businesses and friends assist in raising funds for a host of activities. Our major fund raising activities have been centred around the Autumn Fireworks, Summer Fetes and Summer Balls/Parties. Others are particularly focused on the specific departments or sections involved, the Junior Christmas Fair, CCF Quiz night and Rowing picnic at Henley. And of course we have the 2nd hand uniform shops that help both with items of uniform and other kit made available for onward cycling to the next generaration.

Some more on the PTA and its framework

Parentkind’s Blueprint framework for parent participation, drawn from five years of research across 9,500 schools in their community — sets out five drivers of good practice: ethos and leadership, two-way communication, home-based learning, involvement in school life, and community partnerships.

The school is in membership of the Independent Schools Association (800+ schools), and through their work, supported in many ways by funding the PTA has been able to provide, Claires Court has been recognised by ISA on 2 of the 10 years of the ISA

Awards for its contribution to the wider Community, and the PTA is proud to be associated with the magnificent contribution the school makes to the wider society in RBWM and beyond.
